This day had everything, from disappointment over despair to enthusiasm.
Sitting here since 9 am the news changed, and with them the mood.
First, around noon:
We won’t get a low energy beam (It’s a pity, but could get worse.)
Second:
We didn’t get the beam before 17:25 (damn it, do I really need the data to get a PhD, or the PhD at all? I could get scuba teacher on a nice beach…)
At last we got the beam with a six times higher flux than expected (Jippie, I’ll pay the next round!).
Now (22:15) the flux dropped a little and two hours to go. Wouldn’t be a big problem, if we wouldn’t sit in the radiation protection zone, where neither food nor beverage is allowed. (yes, NO coffee)
